Woodcut 1920 119x140mm [251x275mm] |
 |
| Ref: Wadsworth D48; Greenwood D48 |
A fine impression printed on thin laid Japanese paper, signed by the artist in pencil and numbered from the edition of 10 only. Extremely rare thus - as far as we can ascertain only one other similar impression has appeared on the market in the last thirty years. Slight discolouration where previously exposed to light, some dust-staining in the margins but generally excellent.
Thirty unsigned impressions, almost certainly printed from the block, were also issued in de-luxe copies of Modern Woodcutters 4, published by Herbert Furst in 1921. Curiously Wapping is the only one of about a dozen monochrome woodcuts made by Wadsworth around 1920 that was issued in a signed and numbered edition.
