Woodcut c.1910 320x402mm [459x569mm] |

A fine though slightly uneven hand-printed impression on Chine volant, typical of the first issue. Signed by the artist in pencil and numbered from the edition of 100. The sheet with minor defects in the margins but generally superb.
One of a series of four large Fauvist woodcuts which Dufy exhibited at the Salon d' Automne in 1910 and clearly related to his magnificent woodcut illustrations for Apollinaire's Le Bestiaire published the following year. Early signed examples such as this are extremely scarce, perhaps because of the fragile nature of the paper on which they are printed.
